Our beloved prophet died on Sunday at the age of 97. He was such an inspiration to me and I will treasure his many teachings and counsel he gave. I am sure that everyone that has heard President Hinckley speak has had the same feelings of love and respect for him. He was so likeable and funny, but more importantly he was a prophet of God. He will truly be missed by our family and the member of our church throughout the world.
On Sunday night before bedtime we told the children about his passing. The boys seemed to accept that he had gone to heaven and will be happy to be with his wife and other family members. Abbie, who is so tender hearted, had a harder time and cried for awhile. Matt talked to her before tucking her in for bed and she felt better. She asked who would be the next prophet and he explained to her the process of choosing one of the current apostles. She asked if that meant they would call another apostle and her told her they would. She said to him, "I think that they will call you Daddy." He was alittle touched by her confidence. She then asked, "Does that mean they will change the name of your company you work for from ** to The Quorom of the Twelve Apostles?" Needless to say Matt tried to convince her that it was very unlikely that he would be an apostle, but it did make him touched at her admiration of him.
