Spring Break in Portland

We had alot of fun in Oregon during spring break. We ended up getting a blown out tire on the way and hit some snow over the mountains but we had a great time. We took the children to the Oregon Zoo and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry in Portland. It was alot of fun the kids liked the Zoo train and Submarine tour the best. Both the zoo and museum were awesome, the weather was really cold but it still ended up being lots of fun. We ended up buying local memberships to Zoo Boise and Discovery center and used the reciprocal memberships to the places in Oregon (we have year memberships now for the same price as one day in Oregon). We stayed in Beaverton at a nice hotel I found on Hotwire, it had an indoor swimming pool and ended up being really great(I would recommend Hotwire, it saved us lots of $). The next day we braved the snow/hail again over the coastal mountains and went to Seaside Beach. It was lots of fun, the kids rode a carousel, played in the sand and went to an aquarium. On our last day, we walked around the Portland temple which is gorgeous and stopped at a beautiful waterfall. It was a great trip and I would recommend Portland as a fun family trip, just maybe later in the summer when you might not hit a freakish late snowstorm.

I LOVE Seaside Beach! We went to it last summer. My kids really enjoyed the aquarium too. Sounds like you had a great vacation!
